In Buffer, if I want to do a post with a link in it and push it to say LinkedIn and X I have the following workflow:
I create the post with the text and the link inserted, with both platforms selected.
Then, before scheduling, I modify the X post that is scheduled.
I take the link out and replace it with a ⬇️ or a 🧵since X doesn’t like links when deciding who sees stuff in general.
Then, in the X section, I say “start thread.” There, I say “Read more:” and insert the link I just cut out of the generic post I created for X and LinkedIn.
Finally, I hit the schedule button.
It would be super cool if there was an automated way to thread any X post with a link, as then I would not need to manually change the X specifics before scheduling.
As for LinkedIn - that post with the link just stays as is because LinkedIn doesn’t care.
I believe the primary driver for this on X was Substack, and I think Elon didn’t want to give his competitor an easy way to gain a user base. This became the accepted “solution” which I think is inefficient, but it is what it is.
